Day 2: 40-Day Global Sadhana Release Fear and Become a Conscious Leader

Day 2

Meditation is an interesting experience. Everyone has similar and different experiences.  Depending on the timing in your life, your life experiences, your current stress level and many other factors can determine to which extent you are able to meditate.  I would not describe my experience with meditation as "new", I would say I'm on an intermediate level.  Not beginner, not yet a master.

I've had wonderful experiences while meditating.  I also have close friends who boast of quite amazing things happening to their minds or bodies while meditating.  Sometimes the energies align just perfectly.  I tell you though, that just because I've completed my 200+ hours of yoga teacher training and have a certification does not automatically make meditating a 'magical mystery tour' every time I tune in.  I'm still human.  I still have to put my pants on one leg at a time.  (SAD, but true).  My long buildup here is leading me to say that day 2 of global sadhana was great, and I got through it.  I did the full 31 minutes, although I really didn't think I would when I initially sat down.

There are times in meditating when I can align my thoughts, the mantra, and the focus so great.  I feel happy to know that happens.  Other times, admittedly, I fight the urge to watch the clock.  Part of this experience in writing my happenings is to be completely honest with my audience (I sure I hope I have one) about my experiences in this particular meditation.  Here is my honesty.  I managed to resist the urge to look at the clock for a VERY LONG time-- or what seemed like a very long time.  In actuality, it was about 24 minutes that I resisted the urge to check the timer.  6:42 and counting..... put the phone back to my side.... back to chanting.  Although that last 6 minutes did fleet quickly, I was happy that it was only 6.  I prefer not to play that game with the clock and my mind.  It isn't fun and usually ends up feeling like torture when I look and then there are more than 10 minutes left.  Then there are other days during a 31-minute meditation where it flies by Über fast and I think WOW its been 31 minutes!  I really tried to feel the words and their meaning in order to stay focused.  For me, that is the best way to stay focused during meditation.  Accept your thoughts and let them go.  Feel the words, hear every syllable, feel the truth.  I may sound like a crazy yogi, but, this is my prescription for "Adult-onset A.D.D.-Mind" while meditating.

There are other factors to helping the mind focus of course --- some of which I have and do explore at times.  Today, I have had NO caffeine.  This really helps the meditating move long better.  I'll explain the science of that at a later date. I have a class to teach tonight!!  Hope to see you there!

XoXo,
